“Let them eat Tastykake!”
Eastern State Penitentiary is teaming up with The Bearded Ladies to present the French Revolution as a spectacle of song, dance, and raining Tastykakes for the penitentiary's annual Bastille Day festival on July 15. This "completely historically accurate" reenactment will include appearances by Joan of Arc, Benjamin Franklin, Sojourner Truth, and a six-foot French Baguette. The performance will begin at 5:30pm, culminating in a reenactment of the storming of the Bastille. This event is free and open to the public, though VIP tickets (Which include reserved seating, beer and refreshments, heckling from the lower classes, and revolution goodie bags) are available. For more information, visit EasternState.org/bastille.
