Plant Center City
Philadelphia is in bloom this week, and we're dreaming of springtime. The Center City District wants to get back to its roots by adding more greenery to the downtown by increasing Philadelphia’s tree canopy through our Plant Center City program.
In addition to beautifying the urban experience and instilling a sense of community pride, trees provide myriad benefits including:
- Reducing urban air temperatures—keeping homes cooler (and air conditioning bills lower!)
- Absorbing pollutants and carbon dioxide from the air
- Calming traffic and reducing automobile speeds
- Making sidewalks more walkable and welcoming
- Reducing stress, creating a sense of well-being and encouraging physical activity
A generous donor has offered a $125,000 match for Plant Center City, but we will only receive this gift if we can reach our goal! We’re 70% of the way there, and you can help us reach our goal by contributing a gift of any size today.
